The UP Fighting Maroons ended their first round campaign in the UAAP Season 74 with a loss against the Adamson Falcons, 72-46. UP made just 1 three-point shot against 11 three point shots made by the Falcons. UP now has 2 wins and 5 losses.

Mike Silungan led UP with 12 points but was 0 out of 7 from the three point range and no other UP player scored in double digits.

After a big win by the UP Fighting Maroons against the FEU Tamaraws last Thursday, UP lost its shooting touch and had a big loss against the UST Growling Tigers, 68-49. No UP player scored in double figures with Jelo Montecastro leading UP with 9 points and Mike Silungan with 8 points.

Jett Manuel who led UP against FEU with 20 points only contributed 5 points.

UP defeats FEU after 7 years

UP defeats FEU, 76-63
August 4, 2011 – Smart Araneta Coliseum

The last time UP won against FEU was in 2004 and the UP Fighting Maroons ended their 12 game losing streak against the FEU Tamaraws, 76-63, and notched their 2nd win in 5 games. 2nd year guard Jett Manuel from Xavier led the Maroons with 20 points (5/8 from the field and 9/11 from the free throw line).

Mike Silungan had an all-around game with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists while CSB transferee Jelo Montecastro and Nigerian-Rookie Alinko Mbah both contributed 14 points in a big win for the Maroons.

Our prayer goes to one of the most avid supporters of the UP Fighting Maroons for many years, Tintin Gregorio-Macadaeg (only 34 yrs old), who passed away last Monday due to Breast Cancer.
