This July 2010, adidas gives you basketball experience like never before…
Adidas creates another fresh and creative shoe innovation in basketball. Feel the excitement and momentum in every game with the new adidas TS Heat Check. The adidas TS Heat Check technology is the first of its kind in the market. It allows athletes to monitor their performance through a technology that changes the colour of the iconic three stripes as the intensity of the game heats up.
The adidas TS Heat Check indicates the player’s performance in court. The iconic three stripes activate as the player heats up. It is packed with heat sensitive materials that indicate coolness to hotness as it turns to white once the player’s energy is unleashed. Enter the zone of intense excitement as the player busts his moves and consecutively score points for the team.
With Puremotion Technology embedded in its sole, TS Heat Check enhances the natural movement of the player’s foot for more speed, power and agility. The outsole technology allows the foot to become fluid and play natural. It has a stability triangle that increases lateral stability, cushion, traction, and acceleration. It makes the foot and the shoe perform as one.
It is designed with mesh and synthetic leather, which allows your feet to feel cool even if the player is in a scoring streak. It gives the user the option to tuck the collar in and out with the two-tired lacing system to enhance ankle-support and better lock-down. The adidas TS Heat Check is available this July in Green, Blue and White.

The University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons used to practice in the mornings at the school gym of their Diliman campus. But with the worsening heat wave, they pushed back their schedule to the evening where the conditions are somewhat cooler.
Said head coach Aboy Castro, “That’s why we need to really make sure that we follow the hydration program that has been mapped out for us. How vital is that? When you’re tired and dehydrated, you lose your concentration. You’re slower to the ball and you cramp up. Now the running game is important to our game plan. When we played as Pharex in the PBL, we ran all the time. Of course Pharex has a different make up from UP but that doesn’t mean we cannot do that. So the hydration plan and taking Gatorade is important to UP.”
This May 2010, scientists from the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) conducted a sweat analysis test on the Maroons at the College of Human Kinetics at UP. “We are waiting for the results of the sweat test because the information can be very useful.” Noted the team’s strength and conditioning coach Randy Salcedo. It’s important to know what they drink during the day because it affects their performance. And they are athletes. If they want to have long careers they must take care of their body.”
The sweat tests are used to help GSSI scientists determine if the Maroons are adequately replacing the fluids and electrolytes like sodium and potassium they lose through sweat during training.
Based on the results, GSSI scientists will provide hydration programs that will help prevent cramping.
Gatorade’s assessment test shows how well a player replaces the fluids he loses through sweat during training by measuring a player’s weight change pre- and post-exercise to calculate a player’s fluid lost vs. fluid replaced. The test can show how rapidly dehydration occurs.
This is the second year that GSSI has been conducting sweat tests on the Fighting Maroons. It is hoped that they will be able to conduct these tests on a regular basis during the season to better be able to track the team’s progress with regards to the hydration program.
Added Salcedo, “Normally, it is the veterans or seniors who follow the hydration program. The younger players tend to be skeptical about programs like this. But it normally takes a few weeks before they realize that the training program and the hydration program can help them become better athletes.”
Established in 1988, The Gatorade Sports Science Institute, headquartered in Barrington, Illinois (USA), is a research and educational facility dedicated to enhancing the performance and well being of athletes. Every year, GSSI educates more than 100,000 members who are primarily sports and health professionals on the latest sports science information through direct communications, educational programs and tools, conferences and professional meetings in the U.S. and around the world.
