The FEU tamaraws started strong beating the UP Fighting Maroons 86-74. The lead ballooned to 22 points at the start of the 4th quarter but UP cut the lead to 9 with 2 minutes left but just like the game vs UST, they ran out of time catching up.

Rookie Mikee Reyes who was hot the last game vs La Salle was a non-factor scoring just 2 points. Woody Co led UP with 24 points and another good game by Mark Lopez contributing 16 points. UP vs DLSU Game Statistics

UP Fighting Maroons vs La Salle Green Archers

Best Players of the Game:
Mikee Reyes – 25points, 5rebounds, 6assists ; 4/7 from 3point range, 6/11 from 2point range
Mark Lopez – 11points, 9rebounds, 2assists, 2steals, 2blocks ; 5/10 from the 2point range

Great all-around game by the Rookie Mikee Reyes, playing like a veteran with his shooting, although he had 6 turnovers in this game, he will still improve on this in the coming games and seasons. What I observed about this team is how they encouraged each other even after a turnover, they don’t blame each other for the miscues and losses. Great coaching and motivation by Coach Aboy Castro and his coaching staff.

Mark Lopez can play both offense and defense well, he is athletic and willing to bang bodies while driving to the hoop. I am sure these two will be marked in their next games but other players may step up like Miggy Maniego in the NU game or Alvin Padilla in the UST game or Martin Reyes which was 0/5 in this game but will surely bounce back. We are still awaiting big games from rookies Mark Juruena (who was MVP in the Juniors last year) and Carlo Gomez (who cannot get into his usual double-double the past few games, like in the first round.
