My sister, boyfriend, and I were there. It was a very close fight in spite of the huge lead they have looking at the final score.

I’m also saddened by the fight that only a few people are now watching the games. We do know that in the previous seasons some students were required to watch the game hence we have more people rooting for the team. Earlier however, nadah — it’s as if I wasn’t watching a UP game.

Fellow UP alumni and supporters, I know you feel that we will never stand a chance in the Final Four this year (or maybe even next) but hey where’s the support? Kakalungkot coz ang crowd ng AdU and even NU talo na tayo. :(

Ang mge Pep naman too engrossed and obsessed with their popularity at hindi na nagchi-cheer with the fans. Gone are the days where we would see a Pep member on EVERY level of the stadium….

    UP Fight!

wala kasing 6th man ang UP! porket talo, wala nang supporters. hindi naman laging panalo. start from the bottom malamang.be patient. buti pa ateneo, win or lose! pano gaganahan players natin kung hindi natin susuportahan? walang kwenta pa UP pep squad. buti pa blue babble! kahit talunan, ipakita naman ang school spirit. nakakahiya sobra! parang walang fighting spirit! di man lang sumuporta! parang simula pa lang, talo na.

ang bola bilog! we can never tell.

  3. Diane Reyes Says:

No offense max. “Hindi naman laging panalo” -> Sorry but this is the hard truth!

All other teams always have a “fighting chance” so they can always expect excited spectators. The Maroons only have the word “fighting” on the team’s name. Have you watched the Adamson game? Thats game summarizes it all. The team got the chance but blew it! The team must prove their selves first before complaining on the lack of support. Also, I believe the team got did not lost their supporters. This is just a case that they are not on the venue. UP students rather watch at the TV and spare them the live heartbreak. If the team will just show more heart and add the word “fighting” in the sports phrase “chance of winning” then students and alumni will surely be coming to games and cheer with all their hearts.

Believe me its hard to cheer if I know the team is bound to lose! Have you watched live when the team is againts NU? Man the people seem to double if not triple because people know they have a fighting chance there.

  4. Pinai Says:

    I agree with you Max.

I mean, UP was never known to easily give up. I remember the days that people are still there and very much proud just to be cheering their team.

Yep, and the Pep too. I hope they realize that and do something about it. I think it’s just proper that they lead the fans.

And yes, no sixth man talaga and our team captain, kaka-disappoint lang but basketball is a team sport so I guess In can’t just pinpoint one or two players. Nanghihinayang tuloy ako sa laro ni Padilla. :(

To everyone, open ako na mag-carpool just to watch the games. Since mahirap buhay ngayon, let’s not sit sa malapit, hehehe.

Imagine if we have an extra 30 or more people watching…

  5. Tony Almeida Says:

Just show some fighting chance and people will surely attend the live games. People show up at the event not just to support the team but also to enjoy. I think the team must prove their selves first!

The supporters are still there its just that they are only watching on their tv screens.

  6. Pinai Says:

It’s sad that the players have to prove themselves before being supported during their live games.

From what I call, players before didn’t have to.

To each his own, I guess.

Anyway, thanks for giving us the update on the games :-)

    See you tomorrow. UP Fight!

    Carpooling from Villamor/Fort Bonifacio area.

  7. maxene Says:

to diane reyes: i think that’s just senseless to say that the players have to prove themselves first. so do you mean that only if they play good, that’s when people support them? i mean if you are from another school, you can say that.but being in UP, i think you should learn to love your own.

you said it, they had the chance but blew it. you think that was intentional? the team wants to win also. of course. but supporters do affect the players’ performance. i was once in the basketball team and i know what the crowd can do. and the live heartbreak? as TRUE supporters, wouldn’t you want to share the team players’ heartbreak? do you honestly think that they enjoy losing? i don’t think so diane.

“If the team will just show more heart and add the word “fighting” in the sports phrase “chance of winning” then students and alumni will surely be coming to games and cheer with all their hearts.” — my case in point! so what is showing heart for you? i think the players are doing what they can. how else do we appreciate victory if we don’t know what it is like to LOSE! how pathetic not to be there when the team is losing and only be there when they start winning. isn’t that called a FAKE support for your team? which brings me back to saying, walang kwenta ang sixth man ng UP.

if your basis of watching the game live is the “fighting chance”, then you are not a TRUE supporter of UP. you are not in our team. because being in the team UP means win or lose. kahit talo pa sila lagi, andun pa din ang mga totoong supporters.

so when UP starts winning, we don’t need people who have the same opinion as yours because you weren’t there during our bad days anyway.

so when UP rises up the charts, your presence in the games would not matter at all. mark my word, the team will eventually win games and you will not be a part of it.

  8. Pinai Says:

well said maxene and with your permission may I post a part so that more people may be reminded of this?

    See you tomorrow!
